Attractions in Los Angeles

Being the second largest city in the United States, Los Angeles is complete with attractions to entertain just about everyone.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a visit to Staples Center, located in downtown Los Angeles. This sports arena is home to the NBA Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers, the Los Angeles Kings of the NHL, the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA. It also hosts many entertainment events such as concerts and awards shows. Baseball fans can take in a game at the Dodger Stadium, home of the L.A. Dodgers, or participate in a behind-the-scenes tour for a more personal view.

For those wanting a different sort of enjoyment, there are many theme parks in the area for fun family outings. Among the most popular are Universal Studios Hollywood, the Los Angeles Zoo, Magic Mountain, Knottā€™s Berry Farm, and Disneyland. For days when the sun is too hot to handle, a visit to water parks, such as Raging Waters and Hurricane Harbor, are sure to cool one down.

There are a few ways to kill time while awaiting a layover at the Los Angeles International Airport. Most of these attractions will require at least 3 hours or more. A visit to one of the many beaches in the area can be an enjoyable way to spend some time. Popular beaches include Santa Monica Beach, Venice Beach, and Marina del Rey.

Shopping is a fun option while waiting for your flight and there are some shopping areas close by. The Howard Hughes Promenade is an outdoor mall consisting of a movie theater and restaurants. Another option is Santa Monica Place, an indoor mall, and Third Street Promenade, which has outdoor shopping, dining, and street performers.

Without leaving the airport, one can enjoy dining at the space age Encounter Restaurant. While enjoying dinner, be sure to keep an eye open for any celebrities who may decide to stop by. Popular names such as Tom Hanks, John Travolta, and Sharon Stone have been known to visit.
